ABSTRACT

In the past, hernia and abdominal wall surgery has been ignored, which may endanger the life of patients due to untimely treatment. In 1997, the concept of tension-free hernia repair was introduced to China. Chinese hernia and abdominal wall surgery entered a new era and developed rapidly. In 2015, scholars in China decided to create our own Hernia Registry. In 2017, Hernia Registry was officially released, and the Chinese Hernia Surgery Alliance was established in the same period. The Chinese Hernia Registry has became the second largest Hernia clinical registry database in the world. Although the follow-up rate needs to be improved, it is possible to have a preliminary understanding and analysis of the incidence of hernia disease in China. There are many difficulties in its application, and it requires the multi-level coordination and long-term commitment. The authors hope that through this work, the diagnosis and treatment of hernia and abdominal wall can be improved, and the ability of communication and cooperation at home and abroad will be enhanced, benefiting the general population of hernia patients.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo observe the effects of electro-acupuncture combined neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) on dysphagia in patients after acute cerebral infarction (ACI).Methods180 ACI patients with dysphagia were divided into the function training group (n=45),electro-acupuncture group (n=45), NMES group (n=45) and comprehensive rehabilitation group (electro-acupuncture combined with NMES group, n=45). They were assessed with drinking water test before and 3 weeks after treatment. ResultsThe drinking water test scores improved after treatment in all the 4 groups (P<0.05), and more in the electro-acupuncture group, NMES group and comprehensive rehabilitation group than in the function training group (P<0.05). The drinking water test scores improved the most in comprehensive rehabilitation group (P<0.05). ConclusionThe electro-acupuncture combined NMES can effectively improve the therapeutic effect on dysphagia in patients after ACI.

ABSTRACT

A porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) was obtained from clinic samples. Genes 5 and 6 encoding for the viral glycoprotein 5 and a membrane protein of the PRRSV designated as HH08 were amplified by reverse transcription-PCR. These sequences were compared with reference sequences derived from different geographical locations. The results indicated that the virus belongs to the North American type rather than European. Comparative analyses of the genetic diversity between the PRRSV isolate HH08 and other Chinese as well as foreign reference strains of PRRSV were discussed based on the sequence comparison and the topology of phylogenetic trees constructed in this study.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo evaluate the therapeutic effect of combined portoazygous devascularization and shunt on portal hypertension. MethodsThe data of 56 cases of portal hypertension treated with portoazygous devascularization and shunt from April 1987 to April 1999 was summarized. ResultsThere was no death in 54 patients receiving selective operation;of 2 cases receiving emergency operation, one died. Among 49 followed-up cases, there was one rebleeding,2 hepatic encephalopathy, and one died of liver failure 4 years after opeation. The mean portal pressure before and after operation was(3.42±0.46) kPa and (2.50±0.35) kPa, respectively. ConclusionCombined portoazygons devascularization and shunt not only decreases portal pressure but preserve hepatic blood flow to some extent.

ABSTRACT

Chickens were infected with chicken anemia virus (CAV) at one-day-old and vaccinated with La Sota vaccine 8 days later. Meanwhile, uninfected chickens were vaccinated as controls. At 7, 14 and 28 days post vaccination, the content of IgG,IgM,IgA and HI titer in serum, the number of T cells, IgG, IgM and IgA antibody producing cells in thymus, bursa and spleen, the proliferative response of T、B cells, the inductive activity of interleukin 2 (IL-2) and interferon (IFN) in thymus and spleen were tested. The results showed that the content of IgG, IgM, IgA and hemoagglutination inhibition (HI) titer in serum, the number of T cells, IgG, IgM and IgA antibody producing cells in thymus, bursa and spleen, the proliferative response of T cells and B cells as well as the inductive activity of IL-2 and IFN in thymus and spleen of infected-vaccinated chickens significantly decreased compared with the control. These results indicated that the immunofunction and immunoregulation were dropped post ND vaccination of CAV-infected chickens.
